The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Kenya has taken a significant step towards modernizing its services by launching a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot named “LindaData.” The launch, which took place on January 26, 2024, is a result of a collaborative effort between the ODPC and GIZ, a German development agency.

The development of LindaData has been a multi-year project, with the initial concept born in 2022. The chatbot was developed throughout 2023 and underwent validation and rollout in early 2024. The ODPC has also announced plans for future upgrades to the chatbot in 2025.

LindaData is designed to be a next-generation AI tool that will improve the efficiency of the ODPC’s services. Some of its key features include:

  • 24/7 Availability: The chatbot is available around the clock to provide instant responses to user queries.
  • Multi-Platform Integration: LindaData can be integrated across various platforms, making it easily accessible to the public.
  • Personalized Engagement: The chatbot is designed to provide a personalized experience for each user.
  • Feedback Mechanism: Users can provide feedback on their interactions with the chatbot, which will help in its improvement.
  • Scalability: The system is built to handle a growing number of users and inquiries.

The “LindaData” chatbot is a product of the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, with support from the German Embassy in Nairobi and GIZ, and was developed by Think. For more information, you can visit the ODPC website at www.odpc.go.ke.
